Dont go by the manufacturers recommended oil change .Do it at 80k and feel the difference. My oil was black with phosphur bronze swarf in it .This is gear oil supersedes the old vag spec and is exactly the same as genuine as Fuchs make oil for all vag cars.Used this on a 2005 Seat 2.0tdi Altea.

Used in Alfa Giulietta C635 gearbox and it made a great difference. Although it didn't grind before, changes were a little stiff and I felt trouble coming down the line. Now changes are smooth I have less fear of issues in the future. My brother did the same with his G and also found a good difference.

The cost is reasonable. However did not solve whine in gearbox, I had no whine till I decided to change the oil at 133K in 5 speed VW Golf 2006 1.9TDi with Redline MTL, and did not like that at all. So I changed it for this as most forums state this is the same oil as VW packed oil at twice the price. I then just decided to change it for Royal Purple and no whine and the gears are smooth and click into place. Its a real hassle to do this job as filling up is a real issue! So £80 later in gear box oils I have to say this isnt the best. I do conceed my car has a tonne of miles and probably being a ex hire car it was abused but Royal Purple at least silenced the box!
