I've played all the other SOCOM games on my PSP and this one by far has the best graffics. The comtrols are totaly different for all the others which puts you in the need for the tutoral mode to begin. It's not what it seems. You are commanding a team to act on your commands which puts you in the pilot seat but doesn't actually allow you to act freely as you did the other games. You don't actually shoot at the enemy or even walk, crawl or run as you did in the other games. The controls will take some time to get used to since you probaly are accustomed to the typical controls in the previous games. Good luck and link up for more excitement.
I will start with why I decided to buy this game finally. After months of being released I finally decided to give this title a go since I have been a fan of the SOCOM series since SOCOM II. When I initially heard that this title was being released by someone other than Zipper I thought that this may be a good thing since Zipper has failed at keeping their games hack free. But as I got more information on the new game play mechanics I was immediately turned off and honestly said I would never buy this game. The reason I am finally giving it a look is because I recently went through some of my old games and started to play Full Spectrum Warrior and instantly thought how much the two games seemed to be alike. I enjoyed my time on Full Spectrum Warrior and finally decided to take the plunge. Now that I have logged some hours on the game I must say that it is intriguing to say the least. The mechanics are drastically different from the previous games; especially on the PSP. Overall if I had to rate this game on functionality it would rate a seven. If I had to rate this game on how it has added to the series I would have to unfortunately rate this game a two; this is not the same SOCOM game that I have grown to love over the years and the switch to this style of gameplay was too sudden. Had it been a gradual change over it may have been received a little better but for those of us who were fans of the previous titles this one does not stand up to the previous incarnations. In the end I am happy that I made the plunge and purchased this game but I now understand why so many shuned this title. I just hope that the other title Slant 6 was working on; SOCOM Confrontation, works out better and does not repeat this style of play.Read full review
I purchased this for my son (26 yrs old) and he said, "this is a good game"
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
It is a great game, great graphics. The bad thing about this game is that it has a lot of glitches. For instance, there is no enemy behind the bravo team, and when you switch to the able element, you realize that one of your bravo teammate is dead. Moreover, this game doesn't have the gameplay of the PS2 Socom. :( Even though, this game is very, very similar to "Full Spectrum Warrior", but it is much better because you chose your weapons. That is the good thing of this game. Overral Ok, to kill time.
the good.. easy controls.. easy navigation... the bad... more complex strategy needed to finish levels... this is not a run at full speed and shoot crazy... overall... this is a fun game to play when the online psp servers are down or too many hackers booting you out of a great multiplayer... basically now you have the power to GIVE comands to your team.. and they WILL listen ..
