Timeless Classic
This is by far one of the best original RPG games out there and it still holds up today. Granted the graphics aren't what they are now but its still an awesome game. If you like RPG's then this is a must for your collection.

NWN: Great for Winter nights.....
Neverwinter Nights is a well written enjoyable role playing game. Based on the same engine as Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, also by Bioware, Neverwinter Nights offers hours and hours of good gameplay. In some ways NWN is a little more one dimensional than KOTOR was and it also gets a little more bogged down with the mechanics of things like inventory management and spell casting. Overall I would give it a 9 for story, a six for mechanics, and an eight for visual appeal, or pretty much an 8 overall out of ten. The player selects or builds a character using either a preset character or a completely customizeable "blank slate" character from your choice of human, elf, half-elf, halfling, orc, etc. In the game you will select one sidekick out of a choice of several (you will have the ... Also included is a toolset for creating ones own custom campaigns, and the first of several expansion packs; The Shadows of Undrentide. If I were to do it all over again, I would get the Diamond Pack which includes all the expansions and premium expansions all in one box, but I'm not upset that I went with this first, I have been playing it for three weeks, and have plenty left before I even get to the first expansion, and once I get the main release completed, I'm going to have to replay it from various Characters' standpoints to enjoy all the content that is offered. Gameplay is linear in that your player begins at chapter one, progresses to chapter two etc., but it is also open-ended in that you may complete the side quests not crucial to the advancing of the plot either before during, or after the plot quests are satisfied. Some quests don't become available until after the plot quests are fulfilled, and I'm sure, from my experience with Knights of the Old Republic, and from the similarities I see in this game, that you won't truly appreciate the replayability of it, or experience all the special features of the game until you have two or three characters assembled and advanced through the plot from different races, and different classes. I personally never cared for Dungeons and Dragons, but I am thoroughly enjoying this game, and I think you will too. :O) DD

Excellent Game
I've waited for awhile to buy Neverwinter Nights, waiting for a good price. I love RPG's and the fantasy genre of games, and had enjoyed Baldur's Gate. Being very detail oriented, though, Baldur's Gate became repetitive due to micro-management required to direct all party members. I love being able to let the AI control party members and just control my character, allowing me a more streamlined experience. The AI responds well overall, with very few glitches seen so far and none that were critical. The options available in this game are huge - different classes, prestige classes, feats, etc. Each expansion pack (one of which is included in the Gold edition) adds more. These are minor issues with workable solutions, and easily overlooked with everything else the game offers!

I am a fan of epic rpg games with many quests and endless hours of gameplay. After finishing all the Baldur's gate games, which I got many hours of thorough enjoyment from, I was ready to find something similar. Neverwinter Nights seemed like the obvious choice, since it followed in the same Dungeons and Dragons genre, and packs a huge game onto 4 cd-roms (in this "gold edition"). The verdict is this: if you were a fan of the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games you should be happy with this game. The graphics are much more immersive in 3-D with impressive detail and interesting level design throughout. The gameplay kept me interested, offering all the spells, skills, weapons, etc. etc. that you would expect in a D&D game. On the other hand, if you are looking for the imaginative story, ... I highly recommend it over any of it's direct competitors (such as Morrowind-boooring!). So, if you have time (you'll need it), pick up this game and enjoy.

If you like games with hack and slash, magic, rogue, dual/triple class possible, games with puzzles, interaction with smarter/worth the time and possible expense NPC's, humorous Deekin (kobold bard & fighter), ability to be hero or villain, ability to achieve level 21 status (GOLD) and epic (up to level 40) in third expansion Hordes of the Underdark - IT'S IN HERE! Graphics - spiders, bugbears, orcs, dragons etc., look and fight like AD & D intended.
