I am not Audio Engineer but everything you read about this receiver is true. It is simply a wonderful piece of equipment, the picture and sound that it reproduces are unbeatable. Great Bang for your Buck. I didn't want a receiver that streams radio off of the computer or anything else on line that is why I chose this verses the 876. I found it easy to hook-up since being an TX-SR701 owner, they are somewhat close in configuring the system. This one reaches temp. of 133 degrees in areas. Wish I could experience really high end equipment.. Oh wait that takes a lot cash, something I don't have, but you won't be missing a whole lot of the experience with this somewhat Affordable Onkyo Receiver. Hey maybe I could become One of Onkyo's special test and rating personal, and get the honor to test all of their equipment... Oh, a boy can dream. Happy Listening, William K. OuradaRead full review
This is a high end receiver with enough options to satisfy anyone. Very easy install and setup. First receiver I've had with Zone 2, and I love that. This isn't my first Onkyo, so I expected it to run hot, and I wasn'r disappointed. Nothing an external fan from CoolerGuys can't handle. It's a heavy unit (darn near 60 pounds) and is quite tall. Be sure to give plenty of ventilation. Power to spare, very clean sound, and great versatility. Very pleased.
Really nice, full-featured A/V receiver. My only issue with it is that it runs hot. It's fine for the first hour or so but then it really builds heat to the point that the rear cover almost burns your hand to the touch. I ended-up having to install an exhaust fan in my stereo cabinet which seems to help quite a bit.

The operation of this receiver is fantastic overall. Down points are only two from my experience: it operates very hot in comparison to other receivers that I have had and if it is being used for a 2 or 3 zone set-up the rear channel speakers are inoperable when the other zones are being used. The easy set-up is a cinch to do, the options for hookup is great, the sound quality is excellent, I just love it. I wish I knew more about all the options on it because I am sure that I am only tapping into a small portion of this receiver's quality.
