    A solid OEM drive likely to last several years

    This is a solid, Seagate-built OEM drive with firmware that signs on as a "COMPAQ BF3008B26C." It performs exactly as you'd expect of a 15K RPM unit of its vintage and, if my experience is any indication -- and unlike most SATA drives -- it will warn you of an an impending failure in plenty of time to clone a replacement. You can reasonably count on 3-4 years of continuous -- e.g. boot drive with swap file -- service from one of these.
