future proof your motorcycle petrol tank
If you are looking to protect the internal surfaces of your motorcycle petrol tank from rust and damage from the chemical soup that passes for petrol these days ( ethanol) then there are a huge range of products out there to choose from, however this is only one i would recomend!. It is really important that you follow the instructions to the letter which is a complicated and involving process that takes time and patience, and insure your preperation is done correctly to the letter of the instructions!. The most important part of the process is that once the coating is applied the tank MUST have air blown through it to insure the solvent is vented so the coating can "cure! properly, the method i used was that i purchased a small "gun shaped" fan unit used to airate home barbeques , this ... You apply the coating as instructed then attatch the fan to the petrol tap boss( might need a bit of messing about i used masking tape - blow air through for up to twelve hours (change the batterys every two hours or so and all should be well! once again read and re-read the instruction so you are certain of what you are doing!. if dont correctly you will get a great result- not the cheapest product but works fantasticly if applied properly!.

Takes too long and do I really trust it?
The resin was in a hard lump at the bottom of the tin. Looked like it had stood a long time. Took a long time to mix it all. After that it mixed well with the catalyst. I cleaned the tank with degreaser. Used a rust converter. Cleaned tank again. Dried 2 full days with heat. Mixed the resin and put in tank. Spread it all over. Put it in heat again. It took almost a week till it looked dry. Left it longer to make sure. Did a test and it still isn't properly dry. It is still drying now after almost 2 weeks. It may work or it may not but it just takes too long. I'm not impressed at all. I did everything suggested and more.The resin was in a hard lump at the bottom of the tin. Resealed BMW petrol tank
Just done the nasty job of cleaning and reselling petrol tank on BMW R100 1982. Filled it with white vinegar for three days. Flushed and dried quick rinse with rust stop then used the FertanTapox as per instructions. Worked great and easy to use if your careful - hardest part is airflow but thanks to my mate set up compressor air line to give air flow for five hours. Looks like a great product.

I read in detail the how to use this product and read the instructions set with the product . I followed then to the letter plus doubling the air flow time . The paint sill has not dried fully a week later with the tank against a radiator . The one thing the instructions omitted was to drain every last drop of paint out of the tank and I mean EVERY last drop . I had a tiny bit pool after a while . To make things worse its not a 2 pack like car paint , 2 pack goes off in about 20 mins this does not . What I drain out of the tank is still runny in the tin . To sum up I would use it again but mop up any surplus with a sponge on a stick , then touch up with a paint brush you have plenty of time . Easy to remove if you get it on the external paintwork on application but a long time to cure and set hard. Still waiting for it to cure fully, reccomended 7 days at +18 degree C. but unless you have a heated, well ventilated room, is nigh on impossible in the UK so leaving it to cure for a fortnight. Can be used over existing Tapox application......
