    Nice portable for the money

    Good deal for this unit, the only little problem I ran into was the system was more for a backup system as it was configured. Not a big deal will get it up and working.

    1 TB Western Digital Elements external HD, a great buy for the money!

    This makes seven portable hard drives I've purchased for work and/or home. The Western Digitals always perform great. This one I bought to use as a backup drive for the ole lady's laptop running windows 7 and so far it's working flawlessly. It reads and writes very fast, very low noise (I had to turn it torwards me to see the light and make sure!) All in all a great buy!

    You get what you pay for.

    I bought this hard drive to back up my laptop before re-installing Windows & on it. The hard drive was inexpensive and has more storage capacity than my laptop does. On the other hand, I noticed that even empty this 1 TB hard drive actually only holds 931 GB, roughly a 10% difference (1 TB = 1024 GB). I know that partition formatting takes up some of the space, but an empty drive should not already be 9.1% full. This device is clearly on the lower end of the quality scale for storage devices of its size. But at the end of the day it still does what I bought it for!

    Bottom line, if you need storage you can't go wrong with this WD unit.

    I purchased this 1 TB hard drive to replace a 650GB hard drive that my daughter absconded with to backup her class work for her graduate program. This is a handy little item that is perfect my needs and data. I have a 60 GB USB devise that I store data on from work. This WD drive make it easy to come home and transfer data without worrying about maxing out the available space. If I need another I will not hesitate to go for a WD 2 GB drive to satisfy my needs.
