About this product

Product Information

In the year 2048, a dictator known as the Grandmaster rules the world with an iron fist. Under his rule, the world has become a living, breathing nightmare. Because of a massive population explosion, starvation and constant war has reduced the world to rubble. As a result, the environment has fallen to pieces, generating new diseases and creating genetic mutations. The place we once called home has become a vile cesspool of crime, drugs and human experimentation. Corrupt politicians have absolute power; companies devote their time to committing large-scale crimes and destroying any means of hope. Anyone that opposes these baddies or the Grandmaster is met with severe penalties and repercussions. The world has become a void of darkness...

Until now.

A single warrior has arisen from the depths of the overwhelming tyranny and corruption. As the surviving member of the now-destroyed group of expert assassins and warriors, the lone Strider has vowed to stop the Grandmaster and all the horrifying things he has created using a powerful plasma blade known as Cypher.

As the sequel to the classic Arcade game, Capcom's Strider 2 will have you assuming the role of Hiryu -- the remaining warrior of the defunct clan of ninjas. Spanning three missions filled with side-scrolling platform gameplay, you must hack and slash your way through enemies, scale walls, run and crawl around and scale various walls to achieve victory. Additionally, there are times you must balance yourself on the ceiling as gravity is nonexistent.

Keeping the original Strider's gameplay intact while adding 3D backgrounds, each level has a time limit -- in order to succeed, you'll have to overcome enemies and boss characters in a rather quick manner; if not, you will suffer gruesome consequences. Along the way, you will encounter power-ups that increase the Cypher's attack range and add valuable life to the health meter. Also, there are helpful allies that will attack enemy troops. Needless to say, these items go a long way in overthrowing the vile Grandmaster.

The original Strider has been included with the package as an added bonus for those who never played it or wish to relive their Arcade glory days. Additionally, Strider 2 makes use of the PlayStation's Dual Shock Analog Controller for controls and the vibration function.

Are you the ray of hope that will pierce the ominous darkness or will you join the rest of the Strider clan in oblivion? The world is counting on you.

The perfect complement to an excellent game!

This is the Golden Age of video games in my opinion and it gets no better. Strider 2 is excellent if you're interested in Retro Gaming and not bad by today's standards. A genuine side-scroller that comes at you with different angles, a nice touch in my opinion, Graphics are bright and colorful, I must have for side-scrolling beat-em-up fans

  • Some fine arcade side-scrolling hack n' slash action

Strider 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Capcom's classic arcade game Strider. Like its predecessor, Strider 2 provides blazing fast, challenging arcade action and creative stage design. It also has some new tricks up its sleeve as well. You play as Strider Hiryu going through 5 stages which consist of 6 different scenes each. Strider can run and slash, as well as double jump and use a special move in mid-air or a boost attack that gives him extra range. Levels have many useful powerups and secret items scattered about for those who use his wall climbing ability to check out a crevice. Strider faces constantly changing environments and many different bosses, some of which can be beaten in seconds, some which will require patient dodging and planning. The game never slouches in terms of ...

  • Awesome!

Even though this game is relatively old, it still packs a formidable punch. It fits perfectly into the fighting style of old Capcom games. A constant rush, repeated flying punches and a few special movies at your disposal, this game is one of my personal favorites. Strider 2 is a tight game. Even though I never knew about part one until way after the second one was released, I saw the difference in graphics and gameplay. This game is fast-paced, beautifully colorful and designed real well. I love it like hell. And the missions are mad good. Stages look 3D and nice, and the characters you end up fighting have good designs to them as well. An overall must-play game worth more than a sequel.
