Concerns about its suitability were without foundation
Some of the questions above are silly: it is an adaptor not a BBQ: does it heat evenly? How can I answer that? I digress. yes it does the job well. I fitted it to a fairly old Weber Q1000. As described it does not mate as a Weber OEM part might, but it tightens up well and does not leak, nor will it in the future. The nut has to run up the thread further than the OEM part. That means that on an older BBQ, the previously unused part of the thread may be a little corroded. It may need cleaning and/or the nut can be run up gently with a 17 mm spanner before final tightening. No problem, but I am responding to another comment I read about the product. I suppose I really would have preferred to have used an FFF (fit in form AND function) part for a similar price but I could not find that ... Not the same as the original
Although the thread is correct, the actual fitting is different to the original Weber fitting. The original has a male taper whereas this is simply a radius seating. It does provide a gas tight seal, but shouldn't really be classed as Weber compatible.

Great money saving
Saved £40 on Weber's converter! Take off left thread nut and short hose (keep if you may want to use small canisters in future). Attach converter nozzle to hose from cylinder and screw to barbecue (mine is Weber Q1200). Perfect.
