"A thoroughly gripping read . . . Lisbeth Salander, Stieg Larsson's fierce pixie of a heroine, is one of the most original characters in a thriller to come along in a while-a gamin, Audrey Hepburn look-alike but with tattoos and piercings, the take-no-prisoners attitude of Lara Croft and the cool, unsentimental intellect of Mr. Spock . . . Owes less to the Silence of the Lambs horror genre than to something by John le Carré." -Michiko Kakutani, New York Times     "The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again . . . Larsson is something like John Grisham [but] Larsson held an extra ace: the creation of Salander." - Newsweek   "It's over! And I feel the same sense of pleasure and loss that I did when I watched the finale of 'The Sopranos' and the last episodes of 'Battlestar Galactica' . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy." -Alan Cheuse, Chicago Tribune   "Larsson has produced a coup de foudre, a novel that is complex, satisfying, clever, moral . . . This is a grown-up novel for grown-up readers, who want something more than a quick fix and a car chase. And it's why the Millennium trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." - Guardian "A heart-stopping showdown showcases one of crime fiction's most unforgettable characters-and cements Larsson's rep as one of its most passionate and original voices." - People     "Confirms Larsson as one of the great talents of contemporary crime fiction." - Sunday Times (UK)   "Exhilarating . . . Larsson's was an undeniably powerful voice in crime fiction that will be sorely missed." - Publishers Weekly   "Fast-paced enough to make those Jason Bourne films seem like Regency dramas." - Kirkus Reviews   "Larsson's vivid characters, the depth of the detail across the three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of its genre." - The Economist   "There are few characters as formidable as Lisbeth Salander in contemporary fiction of any kind . . . • great read, great seller!

great ending to the Larsson trilogy! I read the first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for book club. The book has a slow start. Larsson give a great deal of detail to the inner workings of banking and financial institutions in Sweden, which made it difficult to plow through, but after a few chapters, he reels you in, and it is difficult to put the near 650 page novel down. The second installment; the Girl Who Played with Fire, was fantastic, and this 3rd and final novel, does not disappoint, although again there are a couple of slow chapters where Larsson gives intricate detail to law enforcement hierarchy in Sweden. I highly recommend reading them in order. Overall, i was quite pleased with the entire trilogy. (all novels average in the 650 page range).

  • Good book, but read the other two first.

Well written, as were the previous two books in the series, but a much slower read due to the heavy emphasis on Sweden's politics. So sad the author has passed away. Would love to have read more books by him. I only recommend this book to people who have read the previous books and want to know more about the characters. Do NOT start with this one! Read the other two first.

  • Great read. Very Entertaining.

I picked up the first book in this trilogy wondering what all the hype was about, and was this just because the author has unfortunately passed away. The first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo took me by surprise! I will admit it took me about 85 pages to really get interested, but then every chance I got, I was reading! Stieg Larsson, the author and creator of these stories, will greatly be missed. I am almost done with the final book: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, and I have to tell you I am torn whether to read slower to savor Mr. Larssons creative storyline, or to carry the book with me so I find out what becomes of Mikael Bloomkvist, and our fiesty little heroine, Lisbeth Salander! I believe these books would be enjoyed by anyone, male or female, from 18 to 98 ...

  • GREAT BOOK BY A GREAT AUTHOR!!!

I recently bought the book; "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest" By Stieg Larsson. This book is the third book in a series known as the "Millennium Series." I just finished reading the final book, “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest” and this book/the entire series is AWESOME!!! I would strongly recommend this book along with the two other books in this series; “The Girl Who Played With Fire” (1st Book) & “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” (2nd Book). Stieg Larsson’s character development/back stories are without a doubt memorizing & his story telling is GREAT!!! I don’t know about you but I’ve noticed that a lot of authors either focus all their attention on character development or the telling of their story. However, Stieg Larsson REALLY is in a league of his own because he’s able ...
