NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * "This heartwarming tale is full of lessons about taking risks in life and love."-- Cosmopolitan "Funny, visual, and moving . . . A vibrant, loving, wistful portrait of a lost time and place."-- Richmond Times-Dispatch It is 1950 in glittering, vibrant New York City, and Lucia Sartori is the beautiful twenty-five-year-old daughter of a prosperous Italian grocer in Greenwich Village. The postwar boom is rife with opportunities for talented girls with ambition, and Lucia becomes an apprentice to an up-and-coming designer at chic B. Altman department store on Fifth Avenue. Engaged to her childhood sweetheart, the steadfast Dante DeMartino, Lucia is torn when she meets a handsome stranger who promises a life of uptown luxury that career girls like her only read about in the society pages. Forced to choose between duty to her family and her own dreams, Lucia finds herself in the midst of a sizzling scandal in which secrets are revealed, her beloved career is jeopardized, and the Sartoris' honor is tested.

  • Great reading!!

I have to tell everyone about Ms. Trigiani writings. The is story is very touching. You cry, laugh, and become close to the characters. At one point I had to put the book down become I had so many tears, I couldn't see. What a great Lady this Ms. Lucia. When reading you can just see yourself there, at het job at the department store, You can feel what a close family they were and what a kind hear Ms Lucia has. You can relate to the situations. She really had a good life. The trip to the old country in Italy was great. Ms Trigiani packes so much in so few pages. I can't think of anything I dislike. I purchased other book by Trigiani on ebay and I can't wait to read them.

  • Lucia Lucia by Adriana Trigiani

I love this book, and I would recommend it to anyone, and everyone. I love all of Adriana Trigiani's books. When you are reading this book, you can actually picture the settings, the people, etc...as she describes everything so well. This is one of of my all time favorites...I think they might of made a movie, but I am not sure....I would recommend reading all of her books....

  • Lucia,Lucia

I really loved this book . It was so entertaining and real. The writing was wonderful. Both of my daughters (age 28 & 24) read and loved the book as well.

  • Wonderful!

Even though I'm Texan through and through, when I read some of Trigiani's books, I swear I could speak Italian! I love her work.
