After two successful years filling country postings, Detective Senior Constable Vergil John Rankin had been transferred to the State Police Headquarters. Sick of investigating petty crime, he followed a lead he stumbled onto during a routine investigation into car theft that led to murder suspects in the unsolved murder of a woman. The head of the murder squad condemned his private investigation when he first learnt of it, but soon he was turning to Rankin to help settle the case. After a stint in the fire investigation team, he was promoted to Inspector and joined the murder squad. He was involved in the investigation of a fire at a country hotel in which two bodies were found. Fighting his way through opposition from local police and residents, he followed his hunch and solved the case - exposing greed and fraud. The murder of a gangland leader, his bodyguard and mistress was a challenging case. Rankin suspected that a professional hitman had committed the crimes, but finding the body of the hitman made the case more baffling. Learning that the gangland leader had made an appointment to talk to the Police Commissioner made him sure they had all been killed to shut them up. But who had so much to lose that they would commit four murders? This case led Rankin into dangerous territory - police headquarters. Three more bodies would join the others before the case was solved.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS FRAUDULENT CRIMINAL SCAM ENTERPRISE!!! They have a very intentional pattern of defrauding their customers: first, they offer a hard-to-find media item at what looks like a pretty good price, but with a long shipping window. Then they never send the item, which they almost certainly never possessed in the first place. They are banking on the customer forgetting to follow up so they can keep the money. Zero replies from the seller to multiple messages. DISGRACEFUL!!!
