But his burgeoning empathy with the animal kingdom alienates him from most humans and gets him arrested when he frees a circus seal so that she can return to her husband at sea. When he's acquitted of the charges against him, Dolittle and his friends Tommy Stubbins (William Dix) and Matthew Mugg (Anthony Newley) set sail for the floating island of Sea-Star in search of the mythical pink sea snail. Also starring Samantha Eggar and Richard Attenborough. The film won Oscars for its special effects and the song Talk to the Animals.
