AL-KO 38E - Powerful and effective Scarifier
The scarifier was easy to assemble and exchanging the cartridges between the blade unit and its spring pronged counterpart was simple and straightforward. I have used this scarifier with both cartridges. It is very effective and quickly removes moss and matted, trampled grass - just be careful to start off with the scarifier set at the highest position to get calibrated. The collector bin capacity is better than I thought but the quality of the bin material is very flimsy so that I noticed about 5 or 6 of holes in it already after a single use. This is likely to have been caused by the machine brushing against a low spreading shrub while being used but nevertheless it is a surprise and disappointing for equipment of this quality and price. I should point out that the shrub was not ... Does what it is designed for, Nice wide strips speeds up time needed to cover the area. Slightly fussy assemble but OK Need to make sure grass is prperly dry before use. Poor instruction about how to change from rake to Slitter. Could come with a better way of securely storing rake or slitter whichever is not in use. Not clear how to get replacement parts. also could do with a way of regulating the speed of operation to suit the operator. The grass box is too small and the handle locking wings and screws need a redesign the ones on the Bosch lawnmower are much better
