About this product

Product Information

Tecmo's 3D update to Rygar swings onto Wii as an enhanced remake of 2002's PlayStation 2 game. Once again players are cast in the role of legendary warrior Rygar as he fights mythological beasts and foes throughout locales inspired by Ancient Greece. The island of Argus has plunged into chaos with the abduction of Princess Harmonia at the mighty hands of the Titans. Equipped with a multipurpose shield called the Diskarmor, Rygar sets out to free Princess Harmonia from captivity and restore peace to his home.

As Rygar advances through shrines, coliseums, and mysterious labyrinths, he will develop new moves and abilities. Rygar can learn to slide to squeeze through narrow passageways, stomp on enemies or objects, and push or lift items. The Wii Remote is used to throw the Diskarmor at enemies, or to grapple onto objects and swing across chasms. Attacks involve stringing together multiple gesture-based controls, and Rygar can power-up his magical shield to improve its offense as well as defense.

Rygar can also call upon the help of familiars to assist in battle, such as Cerberus or a Siren, to burn or to freeze enemies. Up to four relics can be acquired and attached to the Diskarmor to increase Rygar's attributes or grant him new abilities. As players advance through levels by breaking various magic seals and defeating enemies, they must defeat a series of towering boss characters until Princess Harmonia is found. In addition to motion-sensing controls, Rygar on Wii features a redesigned hero in the spiky-haired spirit of Japanese anime.

The packaging was not the best for this kind of item and shipping, although thankfully it was not crushed or the like and it arrived fine. Unfortunately, the item has scratches and suffers from sunfade on one side, but it was not mentioned in the listing. I wrote to the seller providing pictures, and I didn't get a single answer. Hopefully future listings will be better specified.

  • If he's Greek, why does he look like a guy from an Anime?

First of all i'll always have a personal grudge to this game and the whole "Cesareon" sub-plot. Ugh. Into the game, Rygar The Battle Of Argus is as port with minor twists of the PS2 Game "Rygar: The Legendary Warrior". Grecoroman mythology serves up as the stage for the story in this game. Story: 2/5 The plot in this game is sub-par, full of cliches and all over the place. I could predict most of what was about to happen long before it did. That's how basic it is. Gameplay: 4/5 I trully enjoyed playing the main campaing of this game. Controls were easy to learn and they worked for me. Gladiator mode, one of the new aditions to the game, plays in a different way, here you'll have to use motion control FAR WAY MORE than you will in the main mode. Just like you'd expect, you more your ...

  • battle for argus puts the arrrrggh in dificulty

this game would be fun for a hack n slash game if the camera angle could be changed. i played it for a total of one hour and got so fed up with the camera i literally just ejected it without saving. when fighting an enemy it seems like you have to stand perfectly still or else the camera changes direction and instead of running toward your opponent your seen running away and your back is open to attack. if the camera is prone to changing direction at any time then you have to have a good thumb to be able to quickly change your direction of travel at all times. i will continue to play this game but a game almost like it and much much better would be Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire. i found it for 7.99 at the local Gamestop and it at least lets you adjust the camera. As far as this game goes i ...
