Startech states : "Class 1 transceiver offers an extended range of up to 100m (328ft) for many commercial/industrial applications" My real life test is that it's about same as other bluetooth range. I have several apple mac computer with bluetooth standard in them that performs just as same as this adapter. One thing I noticed is that it consumes very large amount of memory while at use, I noticed on installing on PC, having to use 40 - 60% memory while at use. That's actually with configuring to disable all function but one (headset function). Other than that, it's solid adapter. very good product
i have several different generic dongles to use as a comparison and the star tech dongle blows them away in range and quality the only reason i didn't give them a 5 star rating is because the software will only work with the dongle that comes with the package it will not work with my generic bluetooth dongles and its so hard finding decent software for windows 7 also it cost more to buy a second Startech brand dongle than it does to buy the completer package listed here.i have several different generic dongles to use as a comparison and the star tech dongle blows them away in range and quality the only reason i didn't give them a 5 star rating is because the software will only work with the dongle that comes with the package it will not work with my generic bluetooth dongles and its so hard finding decent software for windows 7 also it cost more to buy a second Startech brand dongle than it does to buy the completer package listed here.
