Literate rocker Richard Thompson's new album, SWEET WARRIOR, is a return to his classic electric sound, his first plugged-in album since 2003's THE OLD KIT BAG. Filled with 14 songs of stories of loss and betrayal, the album also contains one of Thompson's most overtly political songs to date, "Dad's Gonna Kill Me", told from the perspective of a nervous young soldier stationed in Baghdad (abbreviated as "Dad" in the song).

A Very Talanted Artist With a Unique Style
I never heard of Richard Thomson before his song "Dad's Gonna Kill Me" was featured during an episode of "Sons of Anarchy". I bought this CD for that song, and was very impressed with many of his other songs on the CD. Most of his songs (which I believe he writes) tell a story of severe conflict; sometimes romantic conflict - sometimes death and war. I was even more impressed with "Guns are the Tongues", the story of a temptress who seduces a young boy to be an IRA suicide bomber. Others have described Richard Thompson as "The Irish Bob Dylan", I find that to be an accurate comparison. did not like it left me flat
i guess i was expecting more from him. this disc left me feeling very unsatisfied and wanting more. the music drag on with zero passion. i did not like it and do not recommend it. however true fans may like it just not me thanks
