This drill looks brand new and performs as new. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for one. I've been using a corded drill in my house for all my projects, but not anymore. This drill is also really light and gets the job done.

Don't know how this drill would hold up in every day use, but all I needed was a drill to start a small generator. Since it will not be used very often it will serve my purpose quite well, and I already have the DeWalt 18 volt batteries

Excellent cordless drill, good grip and lots of features that assist in various projects (multiple speed settings, flashlight, things you hope you have when you're working in poor light or with multiple materials). Keeps a firm grip on various bits even when drilling through hard surfaces, and the batteries slot in nicely and keep out of the way enough while working. The batteries also hold a lot of juice; I've been working for two hours before with this drill using just one battery, and recharging the difference all that working time took out of it was maybe a minute. Good heft, easy to grip and use, handy case all make for a good package deal. We'll see how this one holds out but I predict this will stay in good working condition for years.

Most drills with impact hammer features are much heavier. This one is very light with great speed control in both forward and reverse. Comfortable sized grip.

Yes this DRILL is a great drill and is a full 1/2 inch with a lot of drive. So far it is great and is used about every day. Needed a full 1/2 inch drill and I feel good about this one.` Holds a charge pretty well and came with 2 and they charge quick. E. L. Gamble

The use of cordless tools commercially in the trades for every type of construction from carpentry to plumbing and as an electrician, and as an industrial tradesman too, has left me with formidable experience in their use, and in determining their suitability for particular tasks. I have used pretty much every manufacturers' products and several have stood out, and a couple are simply must haves. The Dewalt line is the superior of these and this little drill is a champion along with the rest of its family of tools. I love it. It gets me up, down, in, and around in tight spots. It permits me to do and reach work that in the past would have required a second person and in some cases even another hole in a surface to make drilling and fastening happen. The LED light is EXCELLENT. The compact size, power, and ergonomics work together to make it a very real standout performer. The availability of batteries and multiple ranges of power available in them makes it even more versatile and aids me well in my effort to suit the tool to the demands of the job. If you are looking for a small dynamo of a little work horse, you need look no further than this little dude.Read full review
I'm a new DeWalt user ... having graduated myself from Harbor Freight and cheap consumer brands. I just used my new DCD780 to drill and tap some holes in the edge of my Craftsman table saw table to keep the rip fence guide from falling out of the mounting slots due to the draft (taper) needed to get the table out of the casting mold. The drill worked fine for drilling #35 holes, but when I chucked up a 6-32 tap in the drill, tapped the hole, and went to reverse and back out the tap, I discovered the reversing button on the drill was very hard to push - even felt stuck. I had to push on the button way too hard to make it give way and reverse the rotation. I was disappointed that my expensive DeWalt would show an annoying defect the first time I used it. Hopefully the reversing switch will "wear in" and get easier to push with continued use. Not happy so far. I gave 4 stars hoping there's nothing else wrong with the drill. I bought it on eBay as a drill-only. Maybe it was a return. Dunno.Read full review
Wow, after owning a Black & Decker 14.4V the DeWalt Drill I got seems like a real upgrade. It's like I have upgraded to a Porsche from a Honda if I was comparing cars. The Drill feels and looks more like a heavy duty equipment. The power when using it is a lot more. I've just gotten the drill so haven't really used it much, but from the testing I've done, I like it a lot. With the DeWalt using lithium batteries, it is suppose to be stronger & last longer than other equipment using the old NiCd batteries. Also it is lighter for easier usage on the hand. There is a led light right above the grip, so it makes it easier to see the screw when drilling or screwing. There is also a metal belt clip that comes with it that is easy to remove if you don't need it. Remember that there are 2 types of batteries that you could also get if you need extended battery life. One with the 1.5 mah & the other is the 3.0 mah. Of curse both are lithium but one will last twice as long I believe and is also a littler larger in size. You can't go wrong with this drill if you are thinking of getting one. Go ahead and go for the best if you are wanting to do some home improvement or for work. Don't waste time with the less powerful drill or cheaper ones, as this will do it all for you. I'm going to enjoy using mine so I sure hope you get one as well.Read full review
