  • Dracula

This was shown on Masterpiece Theatre on PBS but, I missed it. A friend had shared a copy with me. Actors- Marc Warren as Dracula, Sophia Myles as Lucy, & David Suchet as Van Helsing. This takes Bram Strokes classic Dracula story & takes a refreshing twist at it. While people would find it just plain wrong to mess with it, I found it enjoyable. Although missing were a few key parts- Dracula's brides, Harker never returns from Transylania, no Renfield or the Asylum. The roles of Lucy & Mia are reversed, Arthur marries Lucy, Harker is engaged to Mia, & Dracula is hired to come to London. But, he still has his plans of taking over London & spreadding Vampirism. Despite the changes, lack of "R" rating (due to it being made for broadcast tv), & some graphic gore, still found it entertaining ...

  • Dracula has no bite.

There is nothing new to this story. Purchased because I have enjoyed Marc Warren (Dracula) in other works, his Dracula is flat and even at times comical. Sophia Myles (Lucy) is weak. While the story cannot have the traditional "scary" of a vampire/Dracula movie due to the fact it was made for television, over all there is not a lot to be scared over. Some "gross out" moments, but nothing to really to get "excited" over. The average American viewer may not be familiar with the actors (short of David Suchet, perhaps best known to them as Hercule Poirot). Unless you want to see one more take on the Dracula story, you should pass on this movie.

  • WOW!

Love this adaptation of the Dracula. The story's end is a bit weak. But all the rest is phenomenal. Have to give high props to all the acting. Can't wait to find it on Blu-ray dvd.

  • DRACULA (MASTERPIECE THEATRE)

I read the book, and this didn't even come close to depicting the true classic. It was a hurried version, almost like it was just moving through frames of highlights. Characters and events were totaly twisted around for what reason I do not know because it did not improve it in any way. I did not feel with the characters, or grow to know any of them. As a matter of fact, I was just clarifying finally who was who since characters traded places from their part in the book and it was over. I love the newer Masterpiece, Jane Austen series Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, but this old classic was definitely lacking.

  • Dracula Masterpiece theater.

I was not much impressed with this film. It seemed sketchy. There were not very many good wholesome vampire scenes. Just one and it was not even the best. I was looking forward to more as far as content.
