I was searching for a telephoto lens for my Sony alpha and i was choosing between Sigma or Sony, alot of reviews pointed the light and faster performance of the sony lens. And well the day i got it i could capture birds very focused sooo easy. I want it for water sport photography so i'm excited to use it soon. This lens was bought as an adjunct for my A900 which normally uses a Zeiss 25-70mm. Considering the specs it is very well-priced and, although not in the same league as glass lenses, it does its job quite efficiently. I was reasonably impressed by the full zoom image quality and the AF motor. My seller had obtained it as an unwanted part of a kit and so the price was giveaway. Only observations.....at full zoom a deeper hood would be a good investment...also a padded bag to store it unless you have a luxury camera case.
I got this lens because I wanted to bring things closer, ( I like taking pictures of the birds on the feeder in my back garden for instance), but I couldn't afford the really expensive lenses, but the Sony SAL7300 does a great job. I love the versatility of the lens, although it is better used with the tripod for better stability, especially in fading light.
I bought this item as I had a sigma 200 mm lens but it wasn`t quite what I wanted and this lens was just right. It is well built but I don`t like the lens creep when it`s on the camera and over my shoulder. I have a sony camera so this was perfect for it.
