Escape from Monkey Island is a nice way to re-experience the classic SCUMM computer adventures of yore (many that Lucasarts released in the late 80s, like Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Loom, etc.). The game has a great sense of humor, and I was pleasantly surprised that the interface worked well on the PS2 (versus using a mouse on the computer adventures). The 2D graphic backgrounds are drawn beautifully, but the the 3D characters are not the best...though typical of the time (maybe a little earlier...think N64 or PS1 where 3D was all the rage). Overall its recommended!
I am a fan of the Monkey Island video game series. This one (just like the others) makes you think about how to go about from one step to the next; who should you talk to, what should you carry around, how to get necessary items in unusual ways, etc, and there are plenty of gags along the way. My only complaint is within the game itself; there are some parts that I feel are TOO detail oriented, repetitive, and too time consuming. Overall, if you liked any of the first Monkey Island games, give this one a try. If you've never played any of them, give it a try anyway.
I bought this item on a whim. I was speaking to some friends about this series and remembered how I missed my chance several years ago to get this cool game. So I searched it up on eBay and purchased it. Once I got the game, I was surprised at the difficulty level. I didn't remember it being this hard. But honestly, this isn't a game for the faint of mind. Get this if you enjoy both challenging puzzles and great sense of humor. In my case, I may need some help...but it was worth getting for sure. And the price is great for it's age and rarity level. I got mine for around 20 bucks, and it was like new. So if you are looking for a good gift or something to keep yourself occupied with, go on ahead and give this a try.
This is the best game I have ever layed my hands on and most challenging. IT IS HARD. There are 7 levels. i don't think a living human being could beat this game without the strategy guide. i was stuck on the 2nd level for over 2 years. i finnaly beat it with the strategy guide. so if you like challenging games, fighting monkeys, swash buckling pirates, Austrailian guys, insults, and termite circus this is the perfect game for you. it also makes perfect chistmas, birthday, and for the heck of it gift.
Awesome game. Funny great laughs for the whole family. Comedy gold. Thank you so much.

I owned this game in the summer of 2001 when it first came out and before it got stolen from me. its a classic and the humor is over the top in fact i think its the funniest game ever made. sure, people complained about the monkey combat segments but i thought it was great especially in the final battle. The graphics were amazing for being a first gen ps2 game(i never played the pc version) and the soundtrack was excellent and would have fitted the pirates of the caribbean films. the voice cast was also perfect especially Earl Boen (the psychiatrist from the terminator films) as the villanious LeChuck. I definetaly recommend finding this gem
Awesome game. I played this game back when I first got my PS2 when the PS2 first came out and it was great. This game revolves around the main protagonist (the guy you control during the game) Guybrush Threepwood. He is a pirate fighting against evil doers. Guybrush ends up getting married to Elaine Marley his wife who is the governor of Melee Island, which is where all of there problems start. This game is a must by for anyone who played the first three monkey island games for DOS on the PC. 10/10. Buy it if you can find it here on Ebay or at a discount game store for $20.
It works

Tons of great puzzles. An extremely funny game. Always a great story. I would hope that LucasArts would release yet another installment of this great adventure.
