About this product

Product Information

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER A big sweeping novel of friendship and marriage ( The Washington Post ) by the celebrated author of The Prince of Tides and The Great Santini Leopold Bloom King has been raised in a family shattered and shadowed by tragedy. Lonely and adrift, he searches for something to sustain him and finds it among a tightly knit group of outsiders. Surviving marriages happy and troubled, unrequited loves and unspoken longings, hard-won successes and devastating breakdowns, as well as Charleston, South Carolina s dark legacy of racism and class divisions, these friends will endure until a final test forces them to face something none of them are prepared for. Spanning two turbulent decades, South of Broad is Pat Conroy at his finest: a masterpiece from a great American writer whose passion for life and language knows no bounds. Praise for South of Broad Vintage Pat Conroy . . . a big sweeping novel of friendship and marriage. The Washington Post Conroy remains a magician of the page. The New York Times Book Review Richly imagined . . . These characters are gallant in the grand old-fashioned sense, devoted to one another and to home. That siren song of place has never sounded so sweet. New Orleans Times-Picayune A lavish, no-holds-barred performance. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution A lovely, often thrilling story. The Dallas Morning News A pleasure to read . . . a must for Conroy s fans. Associated Press From the Hardcover edition. "

These sellers make me smile just thinking about them. Delightfully fun (great sense of humor!) and immediate communication. Professionally, they check all the boxes for excellence. Shipping was unbelievably fast (what?! here already!? how!?). Most important to me, packaging was thoughtfully and conscientiously done to insure a safe shipment. I would not hesitate to purchase the most fragile of anything from these sellers. Thank you!

  • Great story, good value

Pat Conroy was an amazing storyteller. Any of his novels will hold you on the edge of your seat, but the ability to hear this beloved tale again while traveling back and forth is a great thing. The box is falling apart, and has been taped numerous times, but that just shows that the story has been well-loved many times.

  • Darker side of Charleston

We were planning to drive across the country. A friend had read the book and said it made her laugh and cry and didn't want it to end. Not wanting to read 600 pages I thought it was a perfect way to share 20 hours on the road. She was right on all counts: the story was interesting, the writng was excellent, the characters, very real. The reading was extremely well done. 5 Stars for this one.

  • South of Broad

Pat Conroy is one of my favorite authors. This book was great. Kept me thoroughly engaged until the very end.

  • South of Broad

It was not clear whether this was the CDs for the book or the actual book. I wanted the book and not the cds at all. Be careful about reading what the product actually is and ask questions if you need to.
