Saved Me A Boatload Of Money!
I was convinced my Genie opener screw had broken teeth in several places, causing the door to jerk and make awful noises as it opened and closed. When I checked the internet for a replacement SCREW I could not find a place to sell one. I went and bought a new $200 Genie Opener. Before I opened the box to get ready to install it I checked the internet for any video that might show tips for installing this new opener. Thank God for internet videos of DIY projects! I learned that the normal part to replace was the FOLLOWER, a very inexpensive part that was DESIGNED to take the wear and tear of operation and save the main screw from eroding away. I took the $200 opener back to the store and instead ordered the little $9 follower. Easy to replace & less than 1/2 the price
If you're replacing the traveler, might as well take the least expensive way out. About 1/2 the price of the whole traveler, this is the part the wears out. Easily replaced after pulling off two springs and then aligning the shafts. I'm already for the next one that goes.

Best way to fix the garage door that jumps on the screw
remove the old one, place the replacement in the same orientation, put the pins back and voila!
