MYST is a story that is based on one of the best selling video game to hit the computer. It was first written for the Macintosh but after selling so many copies and such a high demand for it on the Windows PC format. Anyone that likes the MYST game and enjoys reading, may like this book. It is the story behind the video game. Not the making of it or anything to do with programming. MYST is a trilogy--The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti'ana, and The Book D'ni. The D'ni are a people that are able to write in special books with special inks. What is written becomes real and the people are able to enter that book and that world. I am not much of a fiction reader but I loved the video game so much I started reading the first. After I finished it I read the second and then the last. It is a good story and even if you are not into video games, the story is a good one about other world and the power the make or at least enter them.Read full review
I like this collection of 3 books overall, but realize that the civilization was destroyed in the end. Kind of like the Book of Mormon, which I happen to read also. I played Obduction a few months ago, their newest game, and the Myst world is interesting. They link to other places by touching a picture in a book. These stories further expand that world.

This book was great because it tells you the backstory behind the characters in Myst and Riven. Many things are hinted at during the games that are fully explained in this book. I would recommend it for any Myst/Riven fan. There's not strong action (when is there ever in Myst?), but there is suspense and a little romance. There's also a good look into D'ni culture before the fall.
This book introduces an amazing back story behind the classic pc game Myst. I have only read the first two books in the Reader but both are excellent stories that I would highly recommend.
I am a huge Myst fan, so this book was a dream come true for me! I absolutely love it! The only dislike I have is that it gets bent easily, but that's to be expected with paperback. Thank you so much!
