An attractively colourful game that's easy to play and quite addictive.
We're no big gamers here in this household. I bought this game for my son, i've passed my Gamecube onto him. I had a go @ this game to start with just so i could help my son get started and i thought it had great game-play and was bright & colourful. Probably the best thing i could say about this game is that it's the 1st game that my son had become slightly addicted to haha.

Good game (if i will get it to work).
I bought it as a broken product and will try to fix it. Have not been able to do that yet. But i have played the game before and it is really fun and my kids love it.

An entertaining exploration puzzle game
Pikmin is a memorable game from the GameCube days. At heart it is a resource management puzzler that forces you to think laterally but allows you to take different approaches to find a solution. It is wrapped up in a cute, endearing story where the player controls a space traveller who has crash-landed on a strange planet, and enlists the help of the Pikmin, small, loyal followers who sprout out of the ground. The player's character has a limited number of 'days' to find his spaceship parts, but the puzzles are often far from straightforward. Pikmin does well in providing the player with instinctive controls and a flexible camera, allowing the player to zoom in to view small details or zoom out at varying angles to see over walls or help decide where to explore next. The game is all about ... Pikmin is a memorable game from the GameCube days. The game is all about exploration and therefore leaves the player with a lot of open options, but also gives intuitive hints as to how to defeat the next obstacle. The ever-ticking clock gives a sharp impetus to find the next spaceship component, and often results in frantic last-minute gathering of stray pikmin before the timer runs out. Failing to find the next spaceship part before the timer expires can be a crushing disappointment, but luckily the save-game function is structured in such a way as to allow you another go before committing your progress (or lack of it) to a save file. This allowance for experimentation is crucial for the player to explore using the different-coloured Pikmin, or for trying alternative paths to the next puzzle. As obvious as some objectives and puzzles tend to appear, there are a few tricky aspects of the Pikmin world that serves to frustrate the player. Vegetation is often used to define an area the player's character can explore on foot, and it's not always obvious when you reach a boundary unless the camera is zoomed in (the player's character cannot jump, but can throw Pikmin around the scenery). During much of the game the Pikmin follow the player around the environment, and inevitably they can get stuck in nooks and crannies unexpectedly. This is frustrating when you have assembled enough Pikmin to complete a certain task, led them across the entire level like the Pied Piper, only to find you're missing a few and have to retrace your steps. Overall the game is highly enjoyable and promotes a different way of thinking to solve many of the puzzles, leading to those relieving "A-ha!" moments. The light-hearted and entertaining Pikmin is worth a look if you are after a different kind of challenge from the many fast-paced reaction fests or dystopian grunge-styled disaster worlds.
