Having recently bought an Audio Technica record player to play my old vinyl record collection, I decided it was time to replace my Philips headphones as they were over 15 years old and, although they still worked fine, I felt that technology had moved on and maybe a new pair would sound better. I was right. I did a bit of research on the net and these Audio Technica headphones had great reviews and were affordable. The better quality of the sound was immediately apparent. With the old headphones, for some reason I had to turn the volume on my sound system right up before getting the level of sound I wanted, and while the quality of sound was ok, it wasn't great. With the new ones I do not need to turn up the volume at all and the sound quality is fantastic, especially the stereo effect. The coiled lead is a little stiff at the moment but I am hoping with use it will stretch out more easily. I love the way the headphones fold up and the hard shell case to store them in is great. You do have to remove the lead though to fold the headphones up so I hope that that proves to be durable. I am very impressed with these and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking to upgrade for general home use.Read full review
