Good value, but required complicated modification.
I got this SunRace 6-speed thumb shifter because I had upgraded my Shimano 5-speed freewheel to a very similar Shimano 6-speed freewheel and kept my existing Shimano TY15 derailleur. It seems like this thumb shifter is correct for my setup but unfortunately it did not match pitch to the TY15 / Shimano 6-speed freewheel combination. Fine-tuning the derailleur to set gear 6 correctly, I moved the shifter to gear 1, and the derailleur only made it to gear 3 on the freewheel. I then backed out my cable adjustment on the derailleur until it was at the correct spot for gear 1. I found this adjustment to be about 2.5mm. So, I needed the shifter pitch to change to pull in 2.5mm extra when going from gear 6 to gear 1. Going back to geometry, I measured and calculated the channel inside the shifter (where the cable rides in) needed to be about 1.2mm less deep than it was. I took a piece of 1mm thick copper and cut a thin strip the same width as the cable channel in the shifter. I cut and bent this to fit along the full length of the bottom of the channel and super glued it in place. This was about right to adjust the pitch of the SunRace 6-speed shifter to match my setup. Each gear detent now falls on the appropriate gear of the freewheel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
