During install, when disconnecting and/or removing old up/down plunger, i advise you wait to discard parts until youre sure this new stopper works with your sink. I have 1 that went right in, but the other would not install (flush with the sink bottom).

The drain opening needs to be at least 1 & 1/4 inches across and unobstructed for 2 5/8 vertically into the drain. I will be more discerning in the future.
