    Southpaw So-So

    A well I intentioned film, a noble effort, but in the final analysis, too often veers into cliche territory. The down & out fighter; the wily old trainer, the hustlers in the boxing business, & one last fight for the title -- we've seen this sort of thing in all the Rocky films & in most boxing films. Jake Gyllanhall trained for months & it shows -- he looks like the real deal. Rachel McAdams didn't have enuf screen time. And basically the film was scene after scene depressing. I'd give it 3 stars. Don't run to see it, but walk.

    This is great movie , this fighter has everything , mansion , kid, money . Fancy high priced cars, jewerly , his one true love , everything in the world, a mans dream life, as things get turned up he gets invited to a fundraiser to speak , he is hesitate about going , his wife talks him into it , but they agree no more fighting matches , she wants him to quit , they go fundraiser and this big world championship heavyweight , is saying smart things to his wife, he's calls him out , he had told his friend watch his wife if anything ever happens to her get her out ,his wife gets killed , he loses his and loses his kid , his mansion , his cars, money, everything collasped , he feels no reason to get up anymore , he starts fighting again, begs for trainer to condition him once more, he is at ...

    "Great Movie To Own"

    Well it seems that whatever Mr. Kurt Sutter Writes it proves to be made into an excellent film. (Sons of Anarchy TV Series for example) Keep it up Mr. Sutter! Jake Gyllenhaal is really just GREAT in this movie along with Forest Whitaker and epecially the Little Girl who played Jake's Daughter. I will mention the acting of Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and also of Rachel McAdams.

    Superior performance

    Jack collects 4 & 5 star dvds and I have the Rockys - till they became absurd & have a few other BOXING movies...but this movie 'Southpaw' in my critical mind is by far - the BEST of them all. Warm, compassionate, realistic acting that will boggle your imagination. Just superb all the way through. Not just from the lead actor - but from the daughter, his trainer Forest, even the opponent trying to humiliate him - everyone showed pizzazz. For so many years I thought Rocky 1 & 2 was unbeatable...till SOUTHPAW came along. And the ending eat deep into your heart. Wow - never thought anyone could put on such a superior performance. You just got to see it! Jack
