Great radios if you need privacy, but understand how they work.
Works well right out of the box, but MANY more features & capabilities available if you acquire the *special* Motorola programming cable & then use the free special CPS software available from Motorola to program the radio. In flat, open desert, away from various potential sources of interference, etc. I've had up to TEN MILES (measured with GPS) coverage range but in a typical suburban residential neighborhood (the wife in the house & me taking a dog for a walk) I got about 2/3 mile range -- around a dozen houses with cinderblock yard walls, etc. between us . Note: if you don't need many features but want the same basic privacy & range, check out the Motorola DLR 1020 & 1060 series radios.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
