"The Homecoming" is a movie the whole family would enjoy watching,
For anybody who enjoys movies about "life the way it was", this is definitely a movie to see, A TV movie about a close-knit family during the Great Depression of the 1930s overcoming the odds during the Christmas Holidays of 1933. The movie is actually based on an early life experience of the story's author Earl Hammer.

Good "historical" show to watch.
Early Walton's story. The cast included most of the TV series' Walton children, and it was interesting to see them in younger years.

Backstory for the hit tv show The Waltons from 'back in the day' (can I get a shout-out?!) A little bit, eh?, the storyline of this series' pilot seems a little disconnected. Soooo glad for Michael Learned, Ralph Waite, and, of course Grandpa when the show hit prime time! If you end up enjoying the series, or are already a fan, be sure to dig around online for fun/interesting trivia and Carol Burnett's absolutely hilarious 'The Walnuts' skit!!!!!!

The Walton's first homecoming is a classic should be in your DVD library. At least I think you should like it. It will be played every Christmas like some other Christmas classics. Give it a five star rating.

Waltons Pilot
Made for TV Movie that served as the TV pilot episode for The Waltons. All exterior shots are filmed in the Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming (from my experience, the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains only get a blizzard every 5 years on average). The movie differs TV by taking place in a Virginia log cabin home and the parents and grandfather are not the TV series actors; also the Baldwin Sisters and Ike are different actors too. The 1930's acted in the 1970's viewed in 2016 was a comfort to watch. The Waltons was one of my Grandmother's favorite TV shows along with MASH and The Lawrence Welk Show, and I remember sharing the reading of a companion The Waltons book with her too at the time. It brought back a lot of memories. I gave the DVD to my Mother In Law for Mother's Day who now lives nearby in Jackson Hole, WY.

my cousin was the star in this movie.
This was one of Patricia Neal's last movies before her stroke, she phoned my dad and tried to get me to play the part of the children but he refused, oh well, anyway, I did get to visit with Mrs. Patrica Neal in her early stages of the stoke, it was devastating she was in a Black 60 or 61 Imperial when I talked with her last. I recommend the movie it is a good watch compared to todays' movies, enjoy and thanks.

Wholesome family entertainment.
If your looking for a story that takes place at a simpler time. A story of simple faith and the love of family without a woke sub monologue. Then this would be a good movie choice for you.
