Though made for entertainment, it's interesting as part of the ugly side of U.S. history.
I've always liked this movie being I'm Cheyenne. One must not forget the era in which it was made and by whom. I use it as a part of teaching my grand children a portion of their history while emphasizing the overall historical treatment of Native Americans so they will hopefully carry a balanced and accurate view of our people. Cheyenne Autumn A Western Masterpiece
Viewed this film in the Sixties when it was newly released to movie houses. Last great film directed by John Ford and has some stellar performances by veteran Hollywood stars. Lead roles played by Mexican actors, Ricardo Montalban, Gilbert Roland, and Dolores Del Rio. Beautifully filmed in 70 Millimeter Panavision scope and the remastering makes it seem it was just filmed.
