    Interesting, the man who never was!

    DVD played good, as expected. Afterwards looked up the mincemeat mission on Wikipedia and several facts differed from the movie, though I suppose the movie jazzed it up to make it more interesting. I have to admit I love Clifton Webb as an actor although my favorite role of his is in Laura with Gene Tierney. Anyway, this movie is well worth seeing.

    A first-rate depiction of an actual WW II secret operation

    The movie tells the story of "Operation Mincemeat," which was an elaborate hoax to mislead the Germans in 1943, as the Allies were preparing to invade Sicily. The idea was to convince the Germans that the invasion would target the Balkans instead, and thereby cause the Nazis to shift military resources away from Sicily. For history buffs, this is a riveting story. First-rate acting, and accurate attention to historic details.
