Held hostage by armed militia for over 4 years in Beirut, Brian Keenan and John McCarthy's harrowing real-life story is brought to the big screen. Ian Hart (LAND & FREEDOM, KILLING ME SOFTLY) portrays the Irish teacher Keenan kidnapped in 1985 and isolated in a tiny cell for months. Suddenly moved to a new location he is no longer alone, he shares a cell with John McCarthy (Linus Roache, WINGS OF THE DOVE, HART'S WAR) an English journalist, with whom he forms a tight bond. They help one another through the next four, long tortuous years of incareration. This film is based on the memoirs of the Keenan and McCarthy who heroically survive the incredible isolation and the uncertainty of their future, to recount their experiences as free men.
