    Classic Basho

    Anyone who reads haiku and takes it seriously as an art form, knows the name of Basho. Of the four great celebrated haikuists of Japan, Basho stands out as the one who essentially perfected the form. The other 3, Buson, Issa and Shiki expanded the tradition, Buson added the lyric quality, Issa the emotion and Shiki revived the poetic form in the earl 20th century. This little collection captures the reflections on and reactions to nature by the old master and is very enjoyable.

    The Humble Zen Master Creates Exceptional Haiku

    Oh, Basho, ancient Zen master, wanderer, and Japanese poet! He created such beautiful and meaningful Haiku that the poems are still relevant today. He is my favorite, writing exquisitely, even in translation. This slender paperback explains some of Basho's history and some interesting history of Haiku, plus many Basho poems. Delightful, and recommended.
