About this product

Product Information

A high concept thriller and genre busting classic, now a major motion picture starring Matt Damon _________________________ A survival story for the 21st century and the international bestseller behind the major film from Ridley Scott, starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. I'm stranded on Mars. I have no way to communicate with Earth. I'm in a habitat designed to last 31 days. If the oxygenator breaks down, I'll suffocate. If the water reclaimer breaks down, I'll die of thirst. If the hab breaches, I'll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I'll eventually run out of food and starve to death. So yeah. I'm screwed. Andy Weir's new stunning science-based thriller PROJECT HAIL MARY is available now. _________________________ 'A saga of courage, ingenuity and humour... utterly convincing' STEPHEN BAXTER

Quickly dispatched, nice clean VG+ used condition hardbacks, slightly lacking in packaging as sent without cardboard. Good value for the money paid.

On reviewing the book I realised that the book edges and corners had also been damaged in transit and would now prefer to change this comment to negative or neutral. I do not recommend this seller who I found to be quite rude when describing damage to books. Avoid.

    Wonderful, especially with chips!

You're seen the film, you've eaten the potatoes... now read the book and find out how much you've missed! This is a gripping technothriller along the lines of Apollo 13 and Marooned, in which one man has to survive on Mars, possibly for several years. That's basically the plot, where this excels is in making it feel real and conveying the sheer isolation and desperation of the situation, and the skills needed to survive in such a hostile environment. The film couldn't cover a lot of the material in the book, and simplified several key issues - for much of the book the hero has no contact with Earth, and several other important problems were completely omitted. That isn't to say it's perfect - the hero completely ignores at least one resource that is definitely in his area of expertise ...

  • Out of this world - thank heavens!

What can I say - have read it 3 times already and it stays by my chair - so any time I want to I can go back to Mars (and escape 'modern life'). It's every bit as good as the film (which I saw first - several times) but some slight differences which are interesting in themselves.

  • Everyone should read this book

Wish I hadn’t seen the film first but everyone who likes space, adventure or physics will love this book. My teenage son is desperate to read it after me and I know he’s going to love it too. Can’t rate it highly enough

  • fantastic book

Absolutely brilliant book so far, I'm not sure how realistic the science behind everything that happensis, but it reads great and keeps you immersed throughout the different perspectives and characters.
