Much as the DS' original Age of Empires was so improbably successful of capturing the desktop Age of Kings' real-time strategy experience in a turn-based handheld game, Age of Empires: Mythologies aims to deliver the series' supernatural spin-off in accessible, portable form. Mythologies is built on the DS' Age of Kings game engine and plays similarly. In each scenario, players harvest resources, build and upgrade their fortresses or cities, and create new working and fighting units, to overwhelm or defeat enemy forces on the map. Scripted missions are available in three main, overlapping single-player storylines. The game offers options for customizable one-off matches and multiplayer battles, as well. Three main forces are available for play, each with different strengths and weaknesses. In command of Greek, Norse, or Egyptian units, players gain access to different buildings, units, and special abilities. As in the PC original, players can devote their civilization's allegiance to certain gods in their pantheon, to build up their spiritual capital toward calling down game-changing divine powers on the battlefield.

    Great Game!

    I really enjoy this game. It takes the basic gameplay presented in the previous installment of Age of Empires for DS, Age of Kings, and expands on the graphics and smoothness of presentation. It's fun to play through the different historical societies and see all the different mythological creatures and powers at your disposal. Highly recommended for fans of turn-based strategy games.

    Lots of fun. Reminds me of Age of empires, of course. Also a little of the Advance Wars series. Tip: Age Up is very important in this game and not very expensive.

    AoE Myths DS Does Not Disappoint

    Another banger licensed under the AoE franchise. Obviously, Conquerors is O.G. But the hand held version holds up well. Great buy. Grab it while you can. And grab the Kings if you can as well.
