    A film that was overlooked on its release by the critics, now basking in its greatness - The cast and the production by Laughton were exemplary. Anyone interested in learning more should get the book by Simon Callow shown below.

    eerie fairy tale atmosphere - a classic

    A bit dated now but still gives its audience a chill.

    I remember watching this film on TV as a child and being quite scared at the sinister part played by Robert Michum. His crooning of "Leaning" when searching for the children adds to the drama and suspense. Yes it's a bit dated now but it's still a very good film and Mitchum plays his character with skill. I'm surprised that there hasn't been a remake but then they are seldom better than the original. Worth a fiver to watch again.
