  • Engaging TV series from the 70s

This series was well remembered even though I was only 16 when it was first aired. I could be mistaken but I think it started in 1973. I had remembered the actors, after all this time, and I have been well rewarded buying this DVD. I think the acting stands up to the test of time, and certainly the filming and scenery. Obviously you can tell its from the 70s but that is an attraction for me. The plot is good, and I like the black and white sequences, which are flash backs to the past. I have not watched all of it yet, as my daughter has hidden it for Christmas, but I can't wait. Much better than modern tv. Would thoroughly recommend.

  • Blast from the past

I really enjoyed watching this series again. I remember watching it when it was first shown on the BBC in 1971. Some older programmes feel very dated but this has stood up well and it's a great chance to see wonderful actors like Ian Hendry, Wanda Ventham, Thorlley Walters and Maurice Denham again.. Actors who could deliver lines clearly unlike some of today's mumblers. Highly recommended.

Saw the original years ago on TV. So I am looking forward to refreshing my memory . What I do remember are the fabulous scenery, good storyline, and wonderful acting. Langwgeoff

  • Enjoyable if a little dated.

Well packaged and received in perfect condition. This series is understandably now somewhat dated and will not appeal to everyone. However, I found it enjoyable and it has a solid cast of accomplished actors.

  • A life in the sun most of us can only dream about.

Considering it's age, the quality is as expected. Any TV series with Cyd Hayman will be worth watching.

  • Television Nostalgia

It's not better than expected but it is quite good. I vaguely remember the series on television but the production(shaky sets etc) is very dated.

  • Lotus Eaters Review

Never seen this show before.and wanted to know what ii was about. Found it to be very interesting, each episode highlighting the lives of the people who frequent Shepherd's Bar on Crete run br Eric and Ann Shepherd (Ian Hendry and Wanda Ventham). The second episode explains the title of the series. All in all a good slice of 70s tv. Well recommended
