About this product

Product Information

Joining the Allman Brothers Band at its inception in 1969, legendary guitarist Dickey Betts supplied the melodic lines that served as foil and support for leader Duane Allman's inventive slide soloing. After Allman's tragic death in 1971, Betts stepped forward as the band's main songwriter, penning such memorable Southern rock classics as "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed," "Jessica," and "Ramblin' Man" before launching a solo career with his new band, Great Southern, in 1976. BACK WHERE IT ALL BEGINS captures Dickey Betts and Great Southern live in concert at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 29, 2004, performing a selection of his best material and a song written exclusively for the event, "Cleveland Blues."

  • HE STILL GOT IT

Dickey Betts is one of the most gifted guitar players of our generation. His instrumentals are like symphonies for rock guitar lovers. All those shredders out there owe a big debt to this southern gentleman. Jessica, Elizabeth Reed, Southbound. All included here are masterpieces. He's older here, time catches up with all of us, but he's still rocking. This is a very good set. I recommend it to any fan of great guitar music. God bless Dickey Betts and thank you for all your great music. Ramblin' Man and Blue sky are included here too. How can you go wrong? Any fan of the Allman brothes will love this.
