Rebuild kit works.
This rebuild kit is for two different models. It's a good thing because it was supposed to have different springs for the two versions, and only one spring was included. Thankfully it was the correct one. The parts fit fine and everything seems to work, but the lever for switching directions feels "loose" and doesn't have the same feel of locking into position like the original one did. All in all, everything fit properly and it works. Time will tell if it's a god deal or not. Is the grip comfortable....I would hope so since it's still my original ratchet frame so nothing changed. Is the torque powerful? I haven't broken it yet but it's hard to say if it's because it has "powerful torque" or I'm too weak to break it. Easy to control? Really, is that a question that should be in this review? As I said, the ratchet frame is my old one, the reverse lever is where it always was. These three questions are pretty dumb when you think about the product I bought. I rebuilt it, the instructions were decent and so far it works again which it did not when I ordered the kit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Shipping was prompt. All parts were present, exactly as shown in the photo. The lever and bearing plate are black, rather than chrome as on my original ratchet. As other reviews note, this rebuild kit is for two different models: ratchet 43785 has an oil port in the head, ratchet 43784 does not. As explained in the seller's note, the included shorter spring is for ratchet 43784, the longer spring needed for ratchet 43785 is not included. Also the tool mentioned in the instructions to install the steel ball behind the pawl was not included, but a thin screwdriver or strip of sheet metal will work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

My 50 Year Old Ratchet is Like New Again!
My pivot head ratchet handle has been used a lot since I bought it over 50 years ago. I don't believe Craftsman makes this style anymore. The gears were worn and the reversing lever kept jamming up.
