Simple setup just plug one end of the usb cable (provided) into the back of the cooling pad and the other end into any available usb port on your laptop and you’re ready to go. It wasn't shipped in a box, the controller just had a label slapped on it with some fragile tape. But the controller works perfectly & is cheaper than Amazon, so not upset
