    Classic Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse at Their Best!

    I'm a great fan of the classic 1950s musicals, but I'm only now catching up on some I hadn't seen before. I ordered THE BAND WAGON because I admire the talent and grace of Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse, both of which are showcased in this musical. The film contains such classics as "That's Entertainment," "I Lost the One Girl I Found," "Dancing in the Dark," and "Louisiana Hayride." Nanette Fabray also appears, in a supporting role, in which she shines.

    I was worried that the DVD being a Warner Brothers DVD it would disc rot, but thankfully this release was made a year before WB started using faulty disc DVD manufacturing from 2006 to 2008. So the disc works, and it works well. Thank you.

    Could not have a better title.

    Cyd Charisse was voted best female dance and Fred Astaire was asked was she the best he had ever danced with and he said maybe out of all he had ever danced with. Cyd Charisse was the greatest in "Dancing in the rain" dancing with Gene Kelly.

    Classic, Hollywood, Musical-Dance Romp

    This is a grand, old musical, dance flick in the classic, Hollywood mold. I wouldn't rate it one of the best but it's definitely worth a watch or two. Fred Astaire is a little past his prime. Cyd Charisse is a real knockout. The plot line is a little silly but the production is top-notch.
