"[Roberts] may have achieved her personal best...As atmospheric and unsettling as a Tennessee Williams play."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Steamy setting and hot love scenes. Read it with the fan on." -- The Atlanta Journal and Constitution "This is romantic drama at its best."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "The marshlands of South Carolina make the perfect stage for Gothic drama. The monotonous drone of insects, the live oaks weeping with moss, the dark and mysterious marshes themselves, lend a romantic, menacing atmosphere to Nora Roberts' story...Nobody does mystery-romance better."-- The Atlanta Journal and Constitution "As atmospheric and unsettling as a Tennessee Williams play...The increasingly intricate plot developments never overwhelm the human element. Roberts--again like Williams--seems disgusted only by unkindness; she treats most of her big cast with affection and compassion for their foibles."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Roberts weaves a story like no one else, and if possible, she just gets better. Synopsis
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a novel of redemption and suspense, as a woman haunted by the unsolved murder of her childhood friend returns to her small South Carolina hometown... Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt--and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Her one escape was her neighbor Hope, whose friendship allowed Tory to be the child she wasn't allowed to be at home. Then Hope was brutally murdered, and everything fell apart. Now, as she returns to Progress with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, Tory is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of the past. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle--Hope's older brother and the heir to the family fortune--she isn't sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try. But living so close to those unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than Tory could ever have expected. Because Hope's murderer is nearby as well...

- e***d (290)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseGreat price for this huge book. Shipping was delayed but not too unreasonable though the book could have been packed a bit better with some bubble wrap as it tore through the very thin mailer envelope. Would recommend seller to cushion heavy books better when using thin mailer envelopes to avoid the tearing and potentially loosing books. Book is as described! Satisfied with my purchase and would buy from again if packaging was more sturdy. Thank you :)
- p***r (142)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAs described ,nice price, quickly shipped but not in a padded envelope, nor with a cardboard padding inside a regular envelope, so corners of book were free to be bumped in transit. They were not. The book looked good even with a tear at one corner of the envelope. Both the seller and the buyer were lucky.
- s***k (121)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseHigh quality book arrived in good condition as described. The book's appearance is satisfactory. A great value! Shipping: Seller shipped promptly. But I received an eBay message saying: USPS made a delivery attempt but were unable to proceed due to an insufficient address. Huh? Also, shipping history said book was "Held at Post Office At Customer Request." I didn't request this to be done! Next day I went to my USPS office. They fished around & found package. My address was correct. Weird.Photographing People (Kodak No Nonsense Photography Guides) - O'Connor, Mich... (#156481824914)
