    My copy was the Vista Vision augmented by Blu Ray. Take two hours and enjoy this dazzler

    Set in the post Civil War American West, this is an excellent movie! What a cast, John Wayne goes against his usual stereotype in this dramatic movie directed by John Ford. The camera techniques used are stunning. Did I mention the All-Star Cast? Ward Bond was a truly under rated actor! Some of the actors were in silent movies (as was director Ford). But this movies approach does not feel old (except the camera averts the violent scenes and lets you imagine how awful they were). A young Natalie Wood is also featured.

    Stunning video transfer of a timeless classic

    I don't want to go further reviewing a classic, so I will instead focus on the quality of this blu ray transfer. It's phenomenal. The colors are astounding beautiful, the film grain is natural and the details are sharp without any unnecessary enhancement. The outdoor sceneries are what will blow you away; they seem like they were filmed yesterday. If you are a fan of this movie, you will be thrilled by the video quality.     A true John Wayne classic!

    It was John Wayne's favorite picture. It's a classic Hollywood western from that era. Great sets, striking landscapes, strong story line, and rich vibrant color photography. Not like westerns done to day that are probably more accurate in wardrobe and dialogue, but still an entertaining movie.

    I don't have very many John Wayne films, but this by far is one of his very finest. The whole drama is masterful and well done including the wonderful scenery.
