About this product

Product Information

Hot-tempered, self-centered, part-Irish Southern beauty Scarlett O'Hara, played to the teeth by Vivien Leigh, loves the gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard). Smug, rebellious, honest blockade-running profiteer Rhett Butler, portrayed gracefully and naturally by Clark Gable, loves Scarlett. Ashley, who is also in love with Scarlett, marries his genteel cousin Melanie (Olivia de Havilland) because he believes that their quiet similarities will create a better marriage than Scarlett's passion. Meanwhile, sparks fly between Rhett and Scarlett at their first encounter and continue throughout Scarlett's first two marriages. Scarlett and Rhett finally wed, but Scarlett continues to pine for her beloved Ashley. Set against the Civil War and Southern Reconstruction, this tragic love quadrangle offers the burning of Atlanta and fields of wounded Confederates as part of its lush scenery. Meticulous backdrops, glorious sunsets, numerous silhouettes, and the ultrasaturated Technicolor film create a hyperreal vision. The romantic score is every bit as lush and dramatic as the photography, borrowing folk melodies from the Old South to make the tragic war concrete. Heavy nostalgic tones pervade the often witty dialogue and larger-than-life charms and faults of the leads. GONE WITH THE WIND, winner of 10 Academy Awards, stands among the greatest epic dramas ever filmed.

It was a group purchase, the seller was able to bundle and packaged together perfectly to ensure the quality of the cards were maintained as they were described in the ads. I've had a few purchases through this seller now for my cards, and always has respected the card and honesty. No communication has been required as they've been in the ball. Rated

A great looking, well designed and nicely finished minifigure. Subsequently I couldn't be happier with my purchase (quality and condition exactly as described in the listing) and the service provided. Very well priced, excellent packaging, arrived intact and I must commend you for how quickly you had my parcel posted. Outstanding, absolutely top shelf, can't recommend highly enough. A well deserved Five star rating for a Five star vendor. Thank you for a totally trouble free transaction.

Gone with with Wind, is correct. The slavery is gone.

I had seen this movie many years ago when i was very young BUT I enjoyed this time more so this time ! In these times it was better than going to the theatre . In Victoria we are not allowed, at the moment, so bring these great movies on!!!! There was no foul language and all as history. Great acting and actors. A bit milder then I would have thought. The slaves treated OK and as was history and different treatment for different levels of social standards with white society.

  • Spectular and with an appropriate content warning.

Bought this because it was the latest 75th anniversary edition and great value. However, while more expensive, the 70th anniversary remastered version would have been a better choice in bluray or the standard dvd. Read the book when I was a bed bound teenage boy in 1966 and loved it. The two disk set provides a great supper break opportunity.
