    A fifties classic

    Aldrich's noir masterpiece is much more than it seems. It's not just a very good thriller but steps into fifties atomic paranoia In a tight, straight script, sharp B&W photogtaphy and laconic and edgy characters. The last Pandora box scene which almost abruptly closes this film will probably remain In tour mind for months...

    A different Mike Hammer movie.

    A cult movie classic. The movie was made in 1955 but because of the Russian Ukraine War is still relevant today. Because of the film's status it is considered to be Ralph Meeker's signature acting role. He is still the tough guy Mike Hammer, but he has to admit by the end of the movie that he, and Velma, are in over their heads. I wish a sequel could be made.
