This smart series from the Sci Fi Channel combines the strangeness of THE X-FILES with the diverse characters of NORTHERN EXPOSURE to create an innovative dramedy. A car accident leads U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson, COUPLING) to the small town of Eureka. The town is the brainchild of Albert Einstein and President Truman, and has become a haven for the smartest people in the country. Though Eureka appears to be like any other small city in the Northwest, its denizens make sure their home is never normal as they create the innovations that power the rest of the globe. As Eureka is kept a secret from the outside world, Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) acts a bridge between the town and the Pentagon. She and Carter bump heads, but their rivalry is driven by a heated chemistry that gives the show some zing. EUREKA also features the talents of genre favorites such as Joe Morton (BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET), Debrah Farentino (EARTH 2), and Matt Frewer (MAX HEADROOM). Eureka 2.0- The continuing continuinginginging
Every once in a while a perfect little show comes along that engages the senses and lifts tv from the deadly doldrums of sitcom sausage and the standard police/medical drama death dirge. Eureka was one of those shows. It did the absolute wrong thing in todays tvland: It was engaging with smart characters (literally smart) that actually did things, that grew and moved in ways that didn't feel pedantic. And as will all great little shows that aren't on the big three and drowning in support, it suffered. It suffered from a lack of urgency on the part of the network that aired it. It suffered from interruptions in schedule that had nothing to do with the actual show. And yet, the show never actually suffered on screen. Jack and Henry had a steadfast friendship. Jack and Allison's relationship seemed to tease us but always moved forward in some way. Jack and Zoey had a unique father daughter relationship that continued to grow. And Jack and Jo had possibly the best working/love/hate roles on tv in quite a while. This show is smart, funny, and what tv should be. Buy it and enjoy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
