    Worth a look.

    Late hellraiser Richard Harris, is well cast as the dark and brooding miner Frank Machin of Wakefield, Yorkshire, one of England's rugby league strongholds. In reality, rugby league is twice as brutally hard, fast and entertaining as rugby yawnion, and Harris' dynamic Machin is a terrific find for the local famous Wakefield club. But, as rough as a badger's arse, Machin excels not only at the game he loves, but also at upsetting his team mates and club management. With her actual strange-shaped snout, Machin's landlady, the tragically late actress Rachel Roberts, provides a distraction as the unlikely object of Machin's awkward affections. Dingy surroundings of the area add reality and pathos to the storyline.
