    Sean Connery, the Original Action Hero

    The Wind and the Lion is one of three great action movies that Sean Connery made in the mid 1970s. The other two are Robin and Marion and The Man Who Would be King. All three are great, but The Wind and the Lion is my favourite. Loosely based on a true incident TW&TL takes place in early 20th century Morocco. The Great Powers are vying for control and moving inexorably towards a world war. Meanwhile a local Berber chieftain (Connery) is causing problems for everyone by kidnapping Europeans and holding them for ransom. When he kidnaps a young American widow (Candice Bergen) and her two children it causes an international incident and brings the United States under President Teddy Roosevelt (Brian Keith) onto the world stage.     Well directed and acted out, as in believable characters. Always like this movie, glad to find it on Blu-ray, no regrets. Very good picture (150" projector screen} and sound track. (eighteen speaker Dolby Atmos system with 12amps)
